Methods of Cummins Engine Maintenance Indicator Setting and Reset

When the maintenance indicator lamp MAINTENANCE of Cummins engine lights up, it means that the maintenance time for the engine has come, engine MAINTENANCE program needs to be performed.
The maintenance indicator lamp is used to remind the driver to do regular maintenance for the engine, if the lamp is light up , then maintenance need to done to the engine.  The main function of the maintenance indicator lamp is to monitor the oil replacement interval. car diagnostic scanner can be used to start this feature, there are three kinds of mode for choose, namely automatic mode, mileage mode and time mode. For the automatic mode, it is the ECM internal circuit that determines when to replace the oil, when it is the time, the lamp lights up, as for the mileage mode and time pattern, user can input and replace interval mileage or working time directly, when the limit is reached, ECM lights up the maintenance indicator lamp to remind the driver to have the oil changed.
After turn the ignition switch on, maintenance monitor will make the maintenance indicator lamp FLUID to flash quickly for three times, and repeat 5 groups within 12 s, so as to remind the drivers to change oil. Maintenance lamp return to zero can be performed by the using of auto diagnostic tool or following the ten steps below orderly (from step 1 to step 10 ) to realize the reset of maintenance monitor,  among the ten steps, step 3 and  8 have to be finished within 12s, diagnostic switch should be move to the OFF position, vehicle air system must be full filled completely.
1 Turn the ignition switch to ON position.
2 Release brake pedal.
3 Floor the accelerator pedal.
4 Floor the accelerator pedal, and then release, repeat it three times.
5 Release accelerator pedal.
6 Floor the accelerator pedal, and maintain full open position.
7 Depress brake pedal and release, repeat it three times.
8 Release accelerator pedal.
9 Indicator lamp flashes three times.
10 Turn the ignition switch to OFF position and keep for 30s at least.
